Events and Festival Displays

A collection of our public events outside of the Bonfire season

Beat Herder Festival

Sawley, Clitheroe

For the past five years we have provided a large scale display for the Beat Herder Festival. This sold out three day event, held near Clitheroe in Lancashire, has a huge following with festival fans and has grown to a 12,000 strong crowd.

On the Saturday evening before the main act, we provide an 8 minute display featuring large caliber shells and a wide variety of effects.

The display has received amazing reviews not only from the crowd, but also from various newspaper and magazine articles over the years, with The Mirror calling it "a jaw-dropping firework display that bathed the Sawley sky" and the Burnley Express stating it "looked like something from Apocalypse Now"!!

The display has grown in size every year, with the large scale willow finale with salute cakes now an essential part of the Beat Herder weekend for many festival goers.

The videos over the years became our "most viewed" on social media and show the scale of both the festival and the fireworks! Some years we've even had to enlist the help of drone videographers to make sure the full display was captured!

Alongside the firework displays in all years, we also provide large flame units on all three nights of the festival. These are situated on two of the main stages, The Fortress and Maison D'Etre. They receive rave reviews both on the night and after the event, making sure revellers were kept warm during the torrential rain! In 2018 and 2019, we also provided confetti streamer shots and stage pyrotechnics for the headliners on the main stage over the three nights. This includes acts like Rudimental, Sister Sledge, Django Django and Boney M.

After the success of the past five years, we were due to return for BeatHerder 2020. However due to the festivals postponement due to government restrictions, we have had to wait until 2021! With fireworks, flames, confetti and lots of new surprises, the whole crew are looking forward to Herding Some Beats once again!

Hull Kingston Rovers Promotions Party

KCom Stadium, Hull

In 2017, Optimum were asked to provide two firework displays alongside stadium fountains for the promotions party at Hull Kingston Rovers. This was live on Sky Sports!

Prior to kick off, we provided a high impact 2minute display, alongside a walkway of fountains on the pitch to welcome the players for this special match.

We then provided a 4 minute larger display after the match for the "Party On The Pitch", a free event attended by hundreds of fans to celebrate Hull KR's promotion to the super league.

Following this event, Optimum have provided bonfire displays to Hull KR in both 2017 and 2018 with videos of this display seen on our Bonfire past work page.

Katherine Jenkins Conert Finale

Bolton Abbey Estate

In 2016, Optimum were asked to provide a fitting finale for a spectacular open air concert. Held on Bolton Abbey Estate (the location for one of our biggest November displays) the concert featured the world renowned Katherine Jenkins OBE, accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra.

The event, the first of its type to be held on the Bolton Abbey Estate in its 800 year history, was attended by thousands of picnic carrying guests and was a fabulour night of entertainment

We designed a high impact short finale display to close the evenings entertainment and although it was a smoky display, it received great reviews. We even got a mention by Katherine Jenkins herself in her personal instagram video after the event!

Keighley Christmas Lights Switch On 2019

In 2018 and 2019, Optimum were proud to be asked to provide a pyromusical firework display for their local town Christmas Lights Switch On celebrations.

The display was held in conjunction with Discover Keighley. The display site provided a challenge for the Optimum Team, with the main display site situated behind the church, we used close proximity effects close to the audience to maximum effect.

We designed a display set to three popular Christmas songs, suitable for viewers of all ages, with all the popular effects and a loud finale. It received some great comments on social media and in local newspapers both years.

Unfortunately the 2020 event was a virtual switch on featuring only videos of the previous years display due to Covid restrictions, however we look forward to being back helping turn on the lights in 2021.

Keighley Charities Gala 2016

Victoria Park, Keighley

In 2016, Optimum were proud to be asked to provide a 10 minute firework display for their local town Gala celebrations.

The display was held in conjunction with W Marshall's Amusements, providers of the fun fair to the Gala for the three nights. The display site provided a challenge for the Optimum Team, both with the firing site being a Basketball court and with the tight location of the park.

We designed a display suitable for viewers of all ages, with all the popular effects and a loud screaming finale. It received some great comments on social media and in local newspapers and we returned once again in 2017. Unfortunately the gala didn't take place in 2018, however we hope this local tradition will return (with fireworks of course) in future years.

Giggleswick Quincentenary Concert

Giggleswick School, North Yorkshire

In 2012, Optimum were proud to be asked to provide the closing finale to a local concert. Held by Giggleswick School to celebrate their quincentenary, this outdoor concert closed with the Halle Orchestra performing the 1812 Overture. Optimum provided a large scale display to the closing 3 minutes of the show.

The video opposite is an edit of an audience capture of the show (the camera was flipped half way through the original so had to be edited).

Over 5000 people attended the event, with features in all of the local newspapers, plus Classic FM's website and a national TV program on the Yorkshire dales

Comments received after the event included:

"A great show to complement a great night! Well done to you all"

" 'Stunning' I think sums up GJS pupils' and parents' view!"

"Enough big bangs, fabulous rockets and great firing point over the road"

"I have only heard praise!"

"Everything on the evening exceeded expectations"

Following this booking, Optimum have continued their relationship with the school, providing bonfire and other displays.

21 Engineers Regiment Homecoming

Ripon, North Yorkshire

We were proud to be asked to provide a display for the homecoming celebrations of the local 21 Engineers Regiment, based on the outskirts of Ripon.

This purely firework display had a red, white and blue colour scheme and featured a wide range of effects including large shell barrages and ground shells.

The event was a great success and it was a privilege to be part of such a special occasion.

Carols in the Park

Chapel Allerton, Leeds

For the past eight years, we have provided a closing display for a Carols in the Park concert. This charity event, run by the local community, is a family Christmas tradition for many in the local area.

We provide a small scale display each year, with a red and green Christmas theme. The venue is quite a tight firing site location limiting the effects we can use, but the display is always met with fantastic feedback.

The video opposite is of our 2012 event, filmed from the hill above the audience and staging.

We look forward to continuing this tradition for many years to come!
